Their print orientation and required part strength does vary, but is relatively obvious. There are 6 components (2 of which are optional) that are required to be 3D printed. Once I found the perfect position, I used a very small drill bit to mark the bracket through the mounting holes of the switch. This all should be fairly evident in the pictures above. To achieve this, I did have to bend the metal bit that actually pushes the button so that it hugged the top of the shift rod. So that as soon as the shift rod moves up at all, the switch is closed. So, I experimented until I found a position in which the button has very slight pressure on it at all times. The switch should close *just* before you engage into the next gear. From this point, I mounted the bracket and then positioned the switch by hand before I secured it to the bracket.Īs I said, you want the switch to activate as you're shifting. You want the bracket to be formed in a Z shape of sorts, so that the switch lines up in the middle of your shift rod as best as it can. You're going to use the upper right-most bolt on your counter shaft sprocket cover case as the mounting point for your bracket. You can find them at Radio Shack for about $3.50. The fuel cut has to correlate with your shift, and this tutorial will show you have to make that happen. It doesn't help to cut fuel for 1/10th of a second before or after you try to shift. The key to this working is that the ECU must see this signal at the correct time. The quick shift switch is what allows the 5V to pass through to the other wire. This takes load off of your transmission and allows you to shift. When the 5V signal from Wire 1 is connected to Wire 2 who is looking for the signal, the ECU knows it's time to shift! So, a subroutine is ran in the processor that cuts fuel injection for less than 1/10th of a second. Then, they also have another wire actively waiting to receive this 5V signal at all times. Essentially, they program the ECU to send a 5V signal out on a particular wire at all times when the bike is running. Diy quick shifter switch how to#Here's my writeup for how to make your own quick shifter! This particular writeup is for use with K6 and K7 600 or 750s with a FlashTune flashed ECU, but the principle will be the same for any bike that is quick shift ready.įirst, a quick summary of how the FlashTune quick shift works. ![]()
